Citytrip MadridThe most lovely citytrip destination in Spain
No trip to Spain is complete without booking an apartment in the beautiful capital of Madrid. Contributing its own unique flavor to the cultural mix of modern day Spain, Madrid’s vibrant personality abounds with history, attractions and unparalleled photo opportunities alike. Although Madrid is a big city, the centre is pretty walkable. If you book your apartment here, museums, shops, bars and restaurants are all within a 2km radius of the Puerta del Sol. But you can always jump in to the metro or hump on the bus for short stops while exploring Madrid. Luckly the public transport system is easy to negotiate and reasonably priced as well. Roomlr has listed a few places in Madrid that you mustn’t miss out on during your visit.
Travel tips for visitors and touristsMadrid’s highlights: never too far from your apartment
Get out of your apartment and experience your Sunday morning like a real madrileño and explore Europe’s largest flea market, El Rastro. El Rastro is abounding with hidden treasures such as old flamenco records, unique handcrafted jewelry and mesmerizing Spanish antiques. The Círculo de Bellas Artes undoubtedly offers the most spectacular view of Madrid. Bar Azotea is a very chic rooftop bar, where you can enjoy and sip (still affordable!) wine while admiring the views on Banco de España, Plaza de Cibeles and Gran Vía from seven stories high. Looking for a Madrid classic?Right in the centre of La Latina you’ll find one of the oldest and most authentic Bars; Alemndro 13. This bar is down a pedestrian street hidden away behind the main thoroughfare of the Cava Baja. Calle Almendro in itself is a great place to go in search of interesting little bars. Wherever you may book your holiday home; you can’t get bored in Madrid, we promise you that!

In which neighbourhood will you be booking your apartment? The most upscale neighbourhood and therefore what is considered the safest is the Barrio Salamanca. The most popular areas for people coming to visit are the area around the Plaza Santa Ana. These areas have a lot of places to eat, and are fairly lively even late at night. Lavapiés is very affordable for budget travel. La Latina, the neighbourhood near the Plaza Mayor, has some of the best tapas and eating in the city center. Many people enjoy this area, but it is not the quietest nor is it the the most upscale. Chueca, which is the gay neighbourhood, is a very lively place, usually up until all hours. Malasaña is an up and coming neighbourhood, known for its artists and fashion. This neighbourhood has a very distinct, edgy vibe to it which makes it feel young and bohemian.A very cool place to book your holiday home!
